【Y.T. T-Slot Cutter】Nickel Groove Machining Finding the Right Balance Between Tool Life and Surface Quality
In nickel groove machining, tool life, cutting stability, and surface quality are equally critical. For this aerospace application, the customer needed to machine six grooves in three passes on a nickel workpiece.
To identify the optimal machining conditions for this workpiece, three different parameter tests were conducted using Yih Troun T-Slot cutter, featuring:
✅ Tool Holder: CB3-1010-80-20
✅ Insert: 3T1018-0.8-ME
The best overall result was achieved with:
● VC: 20 m/min
● RPM: 350
● Feed: 42 mm/min
● Fz: 0.02 mm/tooth
With these parameters, the tool achieved stable cutting, a tool life of over 100 workpieces, and excellent surface quality.
